Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy
Information about devices used for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs)
Information about devices surgically implanted in the chest to continuously monitor hearts that tend to beat dangerously fast and deliver corrective electrical impulses when required. An ICD is often known as "an emergency room in your chest."

Medtronic CareLink® Network
Information about the industry's first Internet-based service, which allows a patient to transmit full cardiac device information (i.e., pacemakers, defibrillators) from their home or other locations to their physician, via a secure server.

Vision 3D™
Information about Medtronic's Vision 3D™ portfolio, which will comprise a full line of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillators (CRT-Ds), pacemakers and cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers (CRT-Ps) to address the needs of patients with arrhythmias, heart failure and those at risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

CardioVascular

Beating Heart Bypass Surgery
Information about a new approach to traditional bypass surgery.

Endeavor® Drug-Eluting Coronary Stent
Information about the Endeavor Drug-Eluting Coronary Stent, a medical device used in the minimally-invasive treatment of coronary artery disease.

Heart Valve Disease
Information about heart valve disease and heart valve replacement.

Diabetes

Diabetes Management
Information about Medtronic MiniMed, insulin pump therapy, and continuous glucose monitoring.

Navigation - Surgical

Image-Guided Surgery
Information about image-guided surgery systems for cranial, spinal and ENT (ear, nose and throat) procedures.

Neuromodulation

Dystonia
Information about dystonia, a movement disorder charactized by involuntary muscle contractions, and its treatment with Medtronic Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy.

Medtronic Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapies
Information about the most innovative deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices available for the treatment of the symptoms of advanced Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Information about obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the use of deep brain stimulation to treat symptoms associated with this neurological disorder.

Overactive Bladder
Information about bladder control problems and InterStim® Therapy for Urinary Control, the treatment option that utilizes sacral nerve stimulation to improve symptoms associated with the condition such as urgency, frequency and retention.

Physio-Control

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
Information about portable units that can be used by non-medically trained persons to treat Sudden Cardiac Arrest in public places.

Spinal and Biologics

INFUSE® Bone Graft - Trauma
Information about INFUSE® Bone Graft for use in the treatment of acute, open tibia fractures in adults.

INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device
Information about the use of INFUSE® Bone Graft with the LT-CAGE® Lumbar Tapered Fusion Device to treat degenerative disc disease; it's estimated that, in 2002, more than 190,000 Americans will undergo lumbar spinal fusion surgeries to ease their debilitating back pain and get them back on their feet. INFUSE® Bone Graft contains recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2), the genetically engineered version of a naturally occurring protein that is capable of initiating bone growth, or bone regeneration, in specific, targeted areas in the spine. Using INFUSE® Bone Graft with the LT-CAGE® device in spine surgery reduces the pain and complications associated with treating degenerative disc disease by eliminating the second surgery required to harvest bone from a patient’s hip, as is done in traditional spinal fusion procedures.

Minimal Access Spinal Technologies
Information about a series of minimally invasive spinal surgery advances developed by Medtronic Sofamor Danek, which define a new direction for spinal surgery by allowing surgeons to perform surgery through incisions less than an inch in length while leaving muscle virtually intact. Products under the MAST banner include the CD HORIZON® SEXTANT™ Spinal System for spinal fusion, METRx™ MicroDiscectomy System for herniated discs and CD HORIZON® ECLIPSE® Spinal System for scoliosis.
